Ok so about 2 weeks ago I pick her up from Joe aka jmp1.
I had been looking for a Scout for a few months no luck. A lot of flakes, and I mean a lot!!!!
I made an 11 hour journey to pick her up from Joe. But it was more then worth it. (my wife didn't thank so) but she didn't see what I saw.
To be honest rust was minimum. Few holes in the floor board and over the driver rear wheel. Seats foam not bad but covers gone. No lights, and carb was leaking. But she ran pretty good. But didn't stop well.
This is her when I got her.

When I got her home the first thing I did was tackle the lights.
It was a pain at first. But then I found the wiring diagram on the forum that helped a lot. At first I only had front maker lights. Then after investigation light bulbs where missing everywhere.. I installed new bulb then I had more lights working. The rear light harness was cut. So I had to rewire that got the turn signal and all running lights working, but I had no head lights or brake lights. Head lights ended up being the switch. $5 fix from rockauto
. Brake took me awhile to figure out. I had power everywhere but to the back of the truck or so I thought. I realized there was no power coming out the turn signal switch. Took that apart. Adjust the contacts and just like that brake lights.
Then I checked the brakes so I could order the parts to rebuild them. While I waited on parts I went to work on the floorboards.
Let me be clear this isn't meant to be a show truck or fully resorted. Its a trail truck. So no my repairs on the floors isn't the prettiest thing ever. But it did the trick.
Here is the floor before.

I just sectioned out the rust holes. Most of the floor was solid. And I filled in any of the small holes with weld.

After

There was pretty bad rust on the right side in the conner near the floor vent. A rat had made a home there and I guessing urine rusted it out.. That was fun to clean out. Not! I didn't get any picture of that sorry. But it did get repaired.
After all the holes where patched or filled I decide to spray bed liner the floor. It turned out pretty nice.

I got home with the truck on a Monday. I finished up the floor pans the following Saturday. That same day the carb rebuild kit came in.
That night a friend asked me if I was going to her ready to hit the trail next Saturday. So now I have a goal.
One week to do brake, carb, and tie up any loose ends.
But after talking to him I quickly realized I was in need of rock sliders. But I did't have the funds to buy or the time to build from scratch. He offered me to come cut the ones of his old wagoneer.
They'd be a little long but I could possible make them work.
So now I had week to do carb, brake, and sliders.
I took Sunday off from working her. And return to her Monday afternoon.
I rebuilt the carb and put back in the seats. Then I started sanding on it.
So now I've add paint to my list of thing to get done in less then a week. But I had already marked off the carb.
Tuesday I went over my buddy and cut off the sliders. I didn't get any huge progress but I did some metal trimming with plasma cutter. Oh and I pulled that huge bumper off.
Wesdnesday my brake parts came in. So I knocked them out. Took me must of the night. Wheel cylinders, shoes, springs, and I had to cut one of the drums off because nothing I did would let it budge. I spend 2 hours beating on and every other trick in the book. I ender up busting out the plasma and cutting it off.
Thursday came around. I when to work on the sliders. I had to trim 6" off them. I hack them up but them back together and painted them.
Then welded them on.
After I was done I had some time to kill. The welder was already hooked up. So I popped the rear dif cover and welder her up. (that saved me on the trail)
Friday d-day. I pretty much had everything I need done. But there was no way I was going out multicolored. So I finished sanding and masked and painted her. Oh yeah I changer the oil on Friday to but that was no brainer.

My wife was floored. She couldn't believe I made that truck look like that in 2 weeks. It kinda hard for me to believe to.
But then it was time for Saturday.
Trail day.

It was good thing I put the sliders. I was dragging them on everything. But I only got stuck like 3 times. Everybody was pretty impressed. I did have some bugs. Hill climbs man did she stall. I know part of it is learning the that sweet spot. But it was tough.
The tires didn't like being air down. I end up having to run 20+psi to keep air in them.
