• To ALL forum users - As of late I have been getting quite a few private messages with questions about build ups here on the forum, or tech questions about your personal project. While I appreciate the interest, sending me a private message about these topics distracts from, and undermines the purpose of having a forum here. During the day I wear many hats as a small business owner-operator and I work tirelessly to provide the absolute best service possible to you, our valued customer. When I created this forum I rounded up some of the best minds I knew so that any tech question you might have could be asked and answered by either myself or one of my highly experienced moderators, this way the next time this same question is asked the answer can be easily found and utilized by the next IH enthusiast having the same question. This allows me the freedom to run the day to day operations of the business and minimize the impact to shipments and shop activities that these distractions can cause. It is of the up most importance for me to complete the daily tasks in order to best take care of you our customer, all the while providing you a forum to get the level advice and input you have come to expect and deserve from the premier IH shop in the country.

So with that I ask that anyone with a question about one of our build ups or a general tech question to please use the forum as it was intended. I am absolutely available by telephone to answer your questions as well but at times may direct you back to our website to better field your question or questions. Most other private messages I will be glad to answer for you.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Finally getting around to posting pics of this Scout II. As with some of our projects this Scout came in for a "few things" but ended up getting quite a bit of work so I thought I'd post up some pictures of the work performed. I didn't get any before pics but did eventually start to take some while it was here and some finish pics were also taken.

The long list of repairs and modifications were:

- installed alcan springs front and rear
- repaired parking brake
- fabbed and installed rock sliders and corner guards
- installed a gas tank skid plate
- straightened and rebuilt rear axle and installed a detroit locker
- installed IH customs roll cage
- repairs to fuel injection system were performed
- new rear brakes were installed
- driveshafts were rebuilt
- installed a partsmike hysteer kit
- installed GM front brakes
- installed chromoloy front axle shafts
- installed shoulder seatbelts

one thing replaced was the upper ujoint on the front driveshaft. The stock spicer ujoint was replaced with a Tom woods 1310 super flex ujoint. This gave the ujoint more clearance between itself and the yoke especially in full droop.

Rock sliders and corner guards were fabbed up.

Instead of bending up a cage a IH customs roll cage was ordered and installed. Whats real nice about the IH custom cages is the trick front plates that allow full access to the window handles and parking brake yet there is no compromise in strength or safety.

It was a little tricky making these special notch's but Darren got them fitted up quite nicely.

Some welding being performed.

Tube work looks great man!

I'm just using my rusty 79 sii as a campin rig, I wish I had the time to give her a little "up lift" haha

The cage looks great! Can you post pics of the front where it mounts? I bought a cage a while ago from another company and it didn't fit right. They eventually gave me a partial refund because it just wasn't fabbed correctly. It's now a 4-point cage. I will need a cage for my off-road '72 and will not be buying from the last place. I own four scouts and they all need something. Thanks!!!

Unfortunately this project was done many years ago so no way for us to take and post any additional pictures. Unless the owner is lurking around and can post these pictures you might want to check some of our other builds that have used a similar setup.

I'm still lurking around and I still have the Scout. Here are some pics. I think the cage came from d and c extreme but I don't think they make the front cage mounts like that anymore. They might make u a set if u call though.

Pictures posted just fine. The front cage kit came from ihc customs who I believe have folded up and no longer selling these.
