Scouting the Metolius

Thursday afternoon I loaded the family into the Scout and headed east. The plan was to camp at suttle lake and do a little fishing. However when we got to the suttle lake campground all the spots were reserved for the weekend. So I kept heading east to the metolius river. A little more off the beaten path the metolius is a beautiful place to camp.

It was a great trip. While I'm sure it would have been fun in any car. There is something real cool about doing it in a Scout. :thumbsup:

That is very cool! That rallye shined up really nice! It's a good thing that monte wasn't with you or he would have wrapped that chipmunk in sausage and bbq'd it. Muahahahaha
 
Great fambly trip!

Matt g. Is camped somewhere around clear lake now! He left here Wednesday late after gettin' the fresh ihon gauge set and dash installed. He also got instruction on the shop floor of how to handle a belly boat I loaned him!

Since them kidz is broke in now as hunters/gatherers, they are invited down to binder u. Summer camp in 2010 along with the maycroft krew! We're gonna throw up a big tent camp down on the riverbank and they can lern ta cook what they kill on tha fire pit and boil up crawdads for breakfast.

The metolius is one of the great orygone treasures!!
 
Looks like you all had some fun! Camp sherman sure hasn't changed at all since the last couple times I've been down there. It's a cool little store with a lot of fly fishing shiz. I'm really glad that the Scout is working out for you! As drew stated earlier, that Scout shined up really nice! :yesnod:
 
Nice looking trip Mike! I need a drift boat or small aluminum fishing boat like that for my kiddos.

I am back successfully from the clear lake trip mayben mentioned. The upper mckenzie is one of my favorite places in orygun. Full write-up on the dash & gauges is coming soon, but for now I'll just say it is extremely sweet.

But Mike's float tube combined with my neoprene chest waders worked like a charm! I could stay out on the water as long as needed, and got some great shots of the lake.

I didn't take any pics of the Scout, but it was a great trip. Thanks Mike for loaning me the float tube!

Great pics and stories, thanks for the posts and the kidz shots are priceless.
My daughter sarah has been working this summer at clear lake. She's says they've turned it in to a year 'round deal up there and the county now has a snow plow/cat up there to keep the road open. Last winter the snow practically buried the cabins.
So Matt, with the water averaging 38 deg; did you git a bit chilly?
 
No problems greg. The water's cold but neoprene is your friend! It was a bit cool in the morning, but nowhere near unbearable. And in the afternoons I had 85 degree weather and direct sun baking down on me - the legs in the water actually felt good.
