Scout on Top of the World

Spent last Friday doing one of my favorite things: trekking up into the hills for a day of rejuvination. The tsf snow level is high, at least in the diamond mill area where I was, so I got to get up there a ways. That, combined with the clear sunny weather, made for some awesome views!

I had lunch looking at king's mountain across the valley:

Then I hiked part of the wilson river trail to wilson falls

Tons of winter storm damage, especially down low, say below 1000 feet. Branches and downed trees everywhere:

Still, a beautiful day!!!!

Where's the rugrats??? They let ya' go off by yoreself??? Ya know not to go off up in highkuntry by yoreself...who's gonna fix stuff when ya break it? Ya can't fix broke stuff without rugrats ta tell ya what to do! Ya broke the rule!

Yeah, this trip was rugrat-free! Amy and I kick one another out of the house occasionally for kid-free breaks. Friday was my turn!

And I wasn't too worried about stuff breaking. If I couldn't fix it with the basic tools I carry, then I could always have pointed the thing downhill and just rolled all the way back to the highway.

I only had one close run-in with a loaded logging truck coming head-on on a narrow hillside stretch of road, which forced me to drive backwards around a couple corners for maybe 75 yards. That was fun... :sosp: other than that the trip was sans problema - that dumb orange iron plug just keeps running.
