• To ALL forum users - As of late I have been getting quite a few private messages with questions about build ups here on the forum, or tech questions about your personal project. While I appreciate the interest, sending me a private message about these topics distracts from, and undermines the purpose of having a forum here. During the day I wear many hats as a small business owner-operator and I work tirelessly to provide the absolute best service possible to you, our valued customer. When I created this forum I rounded up some of the best minds I knew so that any tech question you might have could be asked and answered by either myself or one of my highly experienced moderators, this way the next time this same question is asked the answer can be easily found and utilized by the next IH enthusiast having the same question. This allows me the freedom to run the day to day operations of the business and minimize the impact to shipments and shop activities that these distractions can cause. It is of the up most importance for me to complete the daily tasks in order to best take care of you our customer, all the while providing you a forum to get the level advice and input you have come to expect and deserve from the premier IH shop in the country.

So with that I ask that anyone with a question about one of our build ups or a general tech question to please use the forum as it was intended. I am absolutely available by telephone to answer your questions as well but at times may direct you back to our website to better field your question or questions. Most other private messages I will be glad to answer for you.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Scout 800 CPT reverse shackle - nervous installer

All,

I'm having a shop install the suspension kit and reverse shackle kit from IHPA on my '66 800 and they're a little nervous about it. They're worried that the front will sit higher than the back when it's finished. Has anyone had issues with this?

Unfortunately, the CPT install guide says "Scout 2" on the cover even thought the #IHPA rep said it was "universal". Could be but it doesn't have info for installing the kit on an 80/800. Is there a different guide for the 800 or an updated version?

Any pics/tips/info/advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!!!
Chris

Yes it is possible that the front might sit higher but it will depend on your installation. If it does we normally level the vehicle with a shackle adjustment in the rear.

Although we do not have specific direction sheets for the install on a Scout 80/800, the install is the same with the exception of the front hanger location and rear shackle location. We have this in house sketch which shows to locate the front spring hanger fangs 1" back from the front of the frame. The rear shackle position could vary a bit compared to what is on our sketch as the weight on the front axle is different between a 4cyl and V8 but it should get you in the ball park.

Jeff,

You're awesome. Thanks for the quick response.

That definitely helps. Is that measurement for a 4cyl or v8? Mine is 4cyl, fwiw.

Thanks, again!

That was from a V8. 4cyl should be similar or move the hole forward a tad to say 7 1/2" from the body mount, instead of 7 5/16".

Position 2 would be considered front of the frame. Yes V8 and 4cyl frames do have some differences in them.
