Scored a 392 and a 4speed manual

Heres the quicky.

I have a 77 Scout II with a 304/727/20 combo stock.
I just scored a running 392 and if I remember a t-18 tranny, that was pulled from a rolled Scout II.
My question is what else do I need to install the new combo into my Scout II. Or is everything for the most part bolt in. I have everything from the tranny to swap over but the cross member. Is the 727 crossmember compatible?

Thanks

Although I have no experience in this department, I can tell you that no 392 was ever put into a Scout II from the factory. So, depending on the physical exterior, you May have to relocate or fab new mounts depending.

As for the crossmember - I've seen the one under my 727 and the one under my t19, and they don't look compatible, so I'd be ready to fab a new crossmember too. Just in case, of course - like I said, I don't know for sure.

I'm hoping you can find time to snap some pics of the conversion when it does happen, I'd like to see it myself.

Yeah I know that they never came in a Scout II. But it was pulled from one. The deal fell through anyways. Thanks for your quick reply kyle.

If the 392 came from a Scout, it should be ok.

I believe a 392 from a 74 / 75 pickall would have a different front motor mount -- might not compatible with a Scout II...

One issue might be keeping a 392 cool with a stock Scout II radiator...

Besides the cross member, I wonder if the different transmissions use different length drive shafts on a Scout II...
