Here's a 345 I just tore apart, had it running a week ago.and it somehow got water in # 6 cyl.wanted to pullit apart and do a refresh, head grind an all new gasket's.appears that the gasket was not blown at the water jacket,it's the original steel head gasket's.not sure if the pics will show it blown in between the cyls., or not? Just thought I'd post some pics of the front 2 freeze plug's,a lot of build up of sealer? When I took the radiator cap off,it was 1/2 plugged w/goo. I guess the po had used block sealer in it.bars leak or ? But 1 welch plug under the intake was bad,and my finger nail went thru it!?Jeff

I've had 2 345's do that. It seems right about when the freeze plugs fail, the head gasket does too.

The gasket has been leaking between those cylinders. Also the water came from a jacket but those are harder to detect. Based on the fact that you had two cylinders communicating there is good enough proof that the gasket was compromised elsewhere.

I'm also thinking that the block is prolly woarped between them 2 cyls., also.will get it cleaned up Sunday an straight edge it to see if it is.Jeff

Finally got able to check it Robert! And the block is perfect! The heads are offa bit,? Maybe .004-.005 ? Not sure yet, gotta get my glasses to read my feeler gauges, damn its a beitch getting old! Jeff:winky:just got some feeler gauges I could read from my lil brother.both cylinders( between them) I could barely get a .005 gauge under my straight edge.Jeff
