Rewire Light Issue

Hello all.
I just finished wiring up my 78 SSII. It runs great and got all my new guages in, but while doing my first test drive I noticed my front head lights would blink on and off. I do have the h4 conversion lamps that ihonlynorth sells. I also upped the bulb size to a 100/80w bulb. Could I be pulling to many watts now and the switch doesn't like it? I didn't think the 3-5 extra watts would matter. The switch is a new GM switch which is the same as the stock switch.

I have looked at the switch and the head lights. They are wired correctly per the diagram from ez wire and from painless.

Any help would be great. It is going to suck driving at night and having the lights blink all the time.

Thanks all,
bill

If you put in h4 conversion headlights, you need to rewire the headlight circuit using circuit breakers (sorry, too late at night -- should use relays) - especially if you use 100w bulbs.

If you search this (electrical) forum (or google), you should find a wiring diagram for the h4 conversion.

The 100w bulbs are "blowing" the 15 amp circuit breaker in the headlight switch - which results in the "blinking" headlights.

Based on the info, you should not have this problem if you use the 60/55w bulbs.
