Reverse shackle spring options.

I’ve decided to go forward with a reverse shackle setup for my 71 800b. I’m purchasing a CPT suspension system also. I have a set of SOA D44’s that were made for a different project that we are going to use.
My question is this, the axles have perches that are for the Scout 2 and these are going under an 800. The reverse shackle seems to eliminate everything on the front so I could go with the wider springs? What would be needed to accommodate the wider springs for the rear? I don’t know if IHPA makes a spacer or what would work. The other option is spacing the spring at the perch? The axles are painted and in perfect condition, I would really rather not cut or weld on them so I’m looking for other options. Thanks.

You have to cut and weld new perches because the frame widths are different between and 80/800 and scout II. Perfect time to do a Cut and turn too, with that gear change you're doing. You could likely go with the wider 2.5" springs up front they have for the long travel kit. but if staying spring under you will have to modify the pumpkin spring perch ( drill the locating hole off set).

In the rear you would need to cut the original 2" spring shackle eyes off and the spring mount on the frame, swapped out for 2.5" ones and you could then set the new ones to what ever length springs you wanted.

Thanks for the reply, I should have stated, the axles were done, cut and turned. The perches were set for an 800 model but the wider perches were used. Can I use the wider leaf spring in the front with the reverse shackle and the standard width in the rear and shim the sides of the spring at the perch?

I think for sure you could do that. But I think a call to Jeff or Zeadster would be the best way to be sure!

The reversal shackle kit was based off the scout II's dimensions. I have installed several reversal kits on a couple 800's. Due to the springs being narrower on the 800's, washers were installed at each spring eye to make up the difference in widths of the springs
