Hello everyone,
1966 IH Scout 4WD
4 Cylinder
We just purchased this tie rod for a customers Scout https://www.ihpartsamerica.com/store/SL682079R91.html
The tie rod purchased is quite a bit thicker than the previously installed tie rod and hits the leaf springs with the vehicle on the lift.
This may not be an issue with the vehicle on the ground, which is understandable.
My real issue is the fact that the left tie rod end is not adjustable, and is not the same length as the factory tie rod. So with the steering wheel straight, the left wheel is pointing far off to the right, I don't see any way to fix this as the drag link is not adjustable.
I am at a loss here unless I can press the pitman arm off the steering gear, visually align the left front wheel, and reinstall the pitman arm at its new center, assuming the spline is not keyed.
Has anyone else installed this tie rod?
Attached a picture to show the left tie rod end, it appears crimped, I tried to turn it as I can clearly see threads, but it seems as though it is not designed to turn.
Comparing my tie rod to the pictures on the listing, I can see a whole lot more threads on mine.
