I recently made my maiden voyage in my 1961 Scout 80 after rebuilding the T-90-A1 transmission and Dana 18 transfer case with a twin stick. This is my first build, but all seemed to go well with help from Rick Stivers videos, Schnitzelhaus videos, and great guides from Novak. Thanks to all. However, I have a problem with not being able to shift the rear axle into LO. It will shift to neutral and HI only, no LO. Front axle shifts to all positions.
I removed the poppet balls and springs from both shift fork shafts and it made no difference. I have removed the inspection cover and everything I can see seems to look ok. My suspicion is drawn to the output clutch shaft but I don't understand what could be wrong there, unless my tie wire broke and is causing a jam. I did reinstall the shift interlock when assembling. The shafts, poppet balls and springs were in good condition. I am hoping to find the problem before I decide to pull the front bearing cap. Is it possible to install the interlock incorrectly? I could find no information that the shafts needed to be in any certain position when installing.
Thanks for this Forum. Any help appreciated.
