rear tires "chirping" in 4WD

When I shift to 4wd and drive in a straight line on pavement, the rear tires "chirp" about once a revolution. To my knowledge, both front and rear ends are stock. Do I even want to know ( $$) what might cause this?

Thanks

Maybe you have different gear ratios in the front and rear axles.....:icon_exclaim: look on the diffs and if you're lucky they will still have the gear ratio tags so you can see if they are different. Otherwise jack up on axle, chock the opposite axle tires and put the t-case in neutral. Turn the tire one turn and count how many times the driveshaft turns. Repeat for the other axle. Report back your findings and hopefully this is something else..

Really only two things.

1) effective tire diameter ( a large differential in inflation pressure and uneven wear can make a difference)

2) as md posted axle ratios absolutly have to be exactly the same.

No tags...I'll haveto check the other way. I was taking it on faith that no one would have put different gears in the front and back. But, it looks like both covers have been off ( they are both painted and there's no overspray) so there's no telling. I'll post results when I get them. Thanks.
