Rear seat belt location - Scout II

My brothers 1971 Scout II has no rear seat belts - nor does it have any obvious bolt holes for rear seat belts. It also doesn't have the round 'catch pins' or what ever they are ont he rear fenders for the rear sit to hit... But that is another story.

So where do the 'factory' seat belts attach in the rear. I know the that 2 ends connect to a bolt in the middle of the bed right behind the seats -- but what abotut he sides?

I haven't had a rear seat in my Scout II in 10 years so I can't recall anything... :ciappa:

They attach to the seat itself, right about at the rear corner of each side on the bottom part of the seat.

The only thing on the bottom of the seats is 3 big screws. I didn't think they would be 'tough' enough to hold the seat belts on... Hmm....

The center section, that has the catch portion, bolts through the floor pan on mine. There's a 1/2-13 weld nut on the under side. The outer section bolts to the seat as shown in the pictures posted

if you want to install belts it is fairly easy to do. Get some 1/4" x 2 x 2 or larger steel plates (home depot has them in the same section where the simpson strong ties are, over by the lumber/ screws and nails, already drilled) weld 1/2" grade 8 nuts to them and drill 3 holes, one through each wheel well out of the way of the seat and one through the floor just aft of the seat and bolt the belts in; plates outside, bolts inside. Done
