Re: Scout II SOA & R/S in 24 Hours

Not sure if this is the best place to ask so please move if necessary. I am starting a custom restoration on a 73' Scout and was curious what a package like the above would cost. Currently the body is off and the chassis has been high pressure steam cleaned at a professional semi-truck cleaning shop. It currently has a Dana 44 in the rear and a Dana 30 in the front and no engine or tranny. I would also like to install disc brakes atleast in the front. I don't know if having the running gear removed is an issue but any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you,

david

Re: Scout II SOA & R/S in 24 Hours

Your best bet would be to call Jeff directly for pricing. That is a pretty tall order seeing as how it took quite a few experts working together like well oiled machine to get it done. And it still comes out to about 60 man hours of work. The caveat to that is even though it still costs the same man hours, they are pulling builders off of other projects and deadlines to do it. I would expect a super pretty penny to get the 24 hour SOA & rsdone.

Re: Scout II SOA & R/S in 24 Hours

Well, if not a price how about a suggestion? In this 73' I have the stock springs and what looks to be a newer pair of cheap shocks. Can someone recommend a decent pair of springs to provide a little lift and a good pair of Bilstein shocks? This vehicle will be used primarily as a weekend vehicle for going into the sierra Nevada foothills and over to the coast. It will be going off road but will by no means be climbing any monster rocks, etc. I am looking for something that will provide a nice ride but get me back into places to do some camping, hunting, etc. When complete I probably will not go any larger than 33" on the vehicle. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

david

Re: Scout II SOA & R/S in 24 Hours

Sorry that we didin't get back to you sooner. Friday was an extremely busy day and we are off on weekends.

To answer your question with what you have in mind I would stay with a simple spring lift. Price and size of lift vary depending on what add ons you go with. What brand of lift to go with is normally decided by your budget. Most of my customers as of late have been purchasing our Rough Country kits as they start out at a base price of $550 and go up from there according to add ons. See this thread for more info on these kits - http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.co...ow-selling-rough-country-suspension-kits.html

Or feel free to call as I'll be glad to discuss the options that we carry which is superlift and Skyjacker. Also you are close enough to our shop that you May want to consider visiting our facility and see for yourself the differences in the various parts that we offer. It will also save you a bunch on shipping.

Re: Scout II SOA & R/S in 24 Hours

Jeff, have you been getting feedback with the Rough Country lifts? I have heard some folks over on pirate say that they arereally rough riding and stiff, but I have never talked to anyone that has one.

Re: Scout II SOA & R/S in 24 Hours

I have yet to get any feed back from any of my customers but all the rc kits that we have sold with the exception of one were sold with Bilstein shocks. Everyone likes to blame the spring when there is a poor ride but there are many factors that affect ride quality such as the shocks and shackles. I always recommend our CPT 5" shackle kit as it will allow the spring to travel farther and be freer.

Re: Scout II SOA & R/S in 24 Hours

Awesome,

I hope curtis orders the cptstuff from you for the job they are doing for mine. I been droolin over it for a couple months now!

Re: Scout II SOA & R/S in 24 Hours

Thanks for the info. In fact, I May just make that trip as you really are only a few hours. Plus, saving some funds on shipping could be used elsewhere. You mentioned having recommended a CPT shackle kit as well. Is this something you would suggest with your recommended rc or Skyjacker spring lift more my scenario?

Re: Scout II SOA & R/S in 24 Hours

I think I understand your question correctly. I would suggest the shackles be used on either lift.
