Quick question about fuel sending unit

I have been scanning the forums and found 90% of what I think I need here

And here

However, I still have one question.

As in the second forum I have gone to a 10si one wire alternator.

I have aftermarket gauges installed and working fine.

While trying to get fuel sending unit I almost burned up (lets hope I didn't) my oem fuel sending by trying to hook up the fuel gauge to a 12v feed.

I see now that the 5vdc comes from old temp gauge, but I am not using it currently. And since I no longer have a old style 4 post cvr my question is simple. If I wanted to use the vr in the old temp gauge (rather than radio shack solution as early Scout proposed) do I feed the temp gauge 12vdc or 5vdc? What is actually coming from the old stock cvr to temp gauge as indicated in wiring diagram?

Thanks in advance for you help!

P.s. If I need to feed 5vdc can I just install the old cvr, feed it 12v from battery and then connect temp gauge to term 4 of old cvr?

Tell us exactly what fuel gauge you are now using. An after market gauge May or May not have a cvr in it.

I guess I didn't answer the question. I'm not using a fuel gauge now. The after market gauges were only for oil/temp/water.
