Pully seal on engine balancer

Hello,
I am looking at removing the pulleys from the harmonic balancer, I am guessing your standard puller should work for that, however I notice there is a foam/rubbery seal around the balancer between the pulley's and balancer. Is this some special item, is it still available, where would I get one?
Thanks

Only a 392 (along with later 345) engines used a "harmonic balancer" which is what you are referring to. It has an outer balance ring vulcanized to the inner crank hub which carries the counterweight found on all versions of the crank hubs used on I-4 and sv engines.

Some 345 and all 304/266, and I-4 (153/196) engines use only a balanced crank hub, they do not use a harmonic balancer. Each crank hub is dedicated to it's own crankshaft and engine rotating/reciprocating assembly and was balanced on the production line during engine assembly. Harmonic balancers are also a dedicated item to each engine.

Do not try and use a claw puller on the outer ring, you will turn the balancer inside out and destroy it!

A harmonic balancer (or crank hub) puller looks like a large steering wheel puller. Remove the pulley stack making sure you pay attention to the order of the pulleys and whether or not a thin sheetmetal spacer is used in place of one of the pulleys. Then rig the harmonic balancer puller on the crank hub and remove it, it's a tight fit but certainly not impossible to remove, especially if the engine is on a stand.
