Project 72 scout ii turbo 304

Well to start out with it's a 72 Scout II 304 with a 3 speed and 4x4. No real modifications to the suspension or engine so it's bone stock at the moment. I scored a garret gtp38 turbo (80mm) off of my girlfriends uncle for house sitting for a few days. When I first got it I figured it would be messed up but it had no shaft play and I took it apart to look at everything and it all looked good. Tomorrow I start the tear down of the engine mainly the top end (I'm having to rewire it so I figured it would be a perfect time to take it apart) tomorrow and start on gasket matching the exhaust and intake ports along with polishing the exhaust and combustion chamber then mounting the heads back on with arp head studs and converting my Holley 2300 for a blow threw application. Also plan on going with bbc valve springs and start working on a new exhaust system for the turbo. Then I plan on upgrading to Dana 60s front and rear with 2-4 inches of lift on 33s. Then fixing what rust there is.

Finally got around to trying to take the heads off and only got one off before leaving to take my girlfriend out to dinner before she had to go to work and it was a mess one of my rocker arms was broke so that's a bummer but what can you expect for a 72 model more updates soon

Not a big deal. The heads are pulled at this point. Have you checked the oil pan for bearing material? If you haven't already, I would! No sense in going any further if its gunna need a rebuild.

Not yet it's been raining since I took the heads off and I don't have a garage to work in

That sucks. Ive been dealing with the same thing.
This is a picture of the bottom of my oil pan in my old 304 that was still running suprisingly when I tore into it.

That's probably what my hondas oil pan looks like the damn thing burns and leaks two quarts of oil every 250-500 miles depending on how much I'm in the pedal but a few weeks a ago I stopped for gas and checked the oil an nothing was on the dipstick so I got two quarts of oil and that brought it up to the add a quart Mark and so I had to put 3 quarts in it all together... The bad part is my car only needs 3 quarts to fill the engine up to where it needs to be when I change the oil I've been trying for two years to destroy the engine and it just won't die I think it has a little International in its blood
