Probably a dumb question.

I think I already know the answer to this but don't want to mistakenly pass up an opportunity. My friend has after market valve covers and an oil pan that would have gone on his 85 Chevy blazer. From what I recall the ih345 is made by Ford. Is there any chance these parts will fit or should I just try to talk him into getting another rig to use those parts on?

The only engines that ihc "bought out" and installed in light line vehicles were the 232/258 amc six bangers, the amc 401 v8, and the Nissan sd33 and sd33t diesels. Those were the only engines used in the light line vehicles sold in the north American market that did not originate in an IH foundry and engine plant.

Ford manufactured no ihc engines. No Ford, GM, or chrysler tin will work on any ihc-produced engine.

There were many configurations of oil pans manufactured by ihc for the ihc-produced engines, those pans are specific to the application. Same for valve covers, lifter chamber covers, intake manifolds, timing covers, etc.

Huh, I guess there's a lot of misinformation out there and I shouldn't assume everything I hear is accurate. I didn't think twice about it because I assumed having the distributor out front was a Ford specific trait.

So now that I know the 345 is an IH specific motor I know officially nothing about it :icon_sweatdrop:

I guess I'll keep reading up on here.
