Possible Scout Purchase

I'm kicking around the idea of purchasing this 73 Scout II SOA, it has a rebuilt 345, 727 transmission, Dana 20 tc, stock 44 axles (ratio unknown), not much of an interior, passenger side floor has some surface rust, and brand new 37x16.5 boggers and street locks:confused: . The warn winch is not included. Asking price is $4200.00. Vehicle is located in pasadena, so will cost at least $240.00 in gas to go get it. Vehicle is operational and registered. Any input would be great.

If anyone is in the area, I would hook you up with a 12 pack of your favorite drink if you could check it out for me since I'm in sac.

Ask dude for more pictures. Just off the top of my head your are going to need to get rid of the 44's I know you already have axles so that May not be a big deal. I didn't know that they made a 16.5 5 lug rim, I would get some clarity on that as well. Looks like you will need to finish off the cage and at least front seats. However it looks a lot farther along than the one you are currently building. Keep me posted on what you do as I still want to take that tub off your hands and if you end up with this one I would be very interested in your paper work on it as well.

I got some more pics of the truck. Not much there in the way of interior. Also noted some rust that could be a concern. Really doen't care much about the body or interior but considering the running gear is all stock, I'm thinking the body and interior should be decent for $4200. Guy said the rims and tires are brand new and cost him $1800. I offered him $3000 after I saw the pics, he countered with $3750. Opinions please:smilewinkgrin:

Those axles don't look stock to me, they stick way out there. They May be 44's but I think they are full size, maybe it is just the rims but I doubt it. To me it seems like a good jumping off point. Looks ok to me, obviously anything you buy is going to need to be gone through somewhat even if you spend twice that.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on getting a couple more pics of the suspension and axles. I'm thinking if everything looks ok, my last offer will be $3500. Probably would sell the rims and tires, or the rims and tires off my yellow Scout, since I won't need two sets of 5 lug rims and tires when I replace the axles with the 8 lug 14blt and 44. I hear ya Chad, those tires stick out pretty far, hopefully when the pics arrive we will be able to tell if its from the axles or the tires.

Here are some pictures of the suspension and axles. The guy's price is now $3750, in one of these pics I noticed there is no front drive-line, so I'm thinking $3500 will be the highest I go. What do you think?

Those are full width axles to answer that question. I still say no more than $3000. I'm sure the guy has more into it than that but I see some things that will need to be corrected like the hysteer setup, ubolts, spring perchs, Ubolt plates, and possible knuckle turning. That alone will add at least $2000 to it.

I kinda figured new perches, u-bolts and u-bolt plates anyway because I want to swap in the 14 bolt and front 44 with disks I have. The angles could be addressed at the same time since my axles will need perches. Still want to go with 5:38's and a spool for the rear. I already have a powerlock for the front. If I do pick this thing up, I should be able to sell a lot of the stuff I already have, plus those boggers, I'm thinking the cash from that should cover the axle swap, and some other stuff, like completing the cage. I know $3500 might be a little too much for the truck but I'm sure I would spend more than that to get my current project to where this one is. Not to mention when I'd find the time to get it done.

Chad, let me know when you want to come down and check out the tub, if this deal happens we can work something out for the tub and paperwork if you're still interested.
