Pertronix 1483a Melt Down

Had a buddy mechanic help put on the new Rough Country shocks to match the 2" Rough Country springs on my 1979 scoutii. Well he put it up on the lift. We did the rears in about 30mins and we moved to the front when we smelled the worst smell you ever want to smell coming off any vehicle. The smell of electrical fire and orange smoke wafting out from under the hood. My buddy left the key on and I guess the pertronix was all lined up for disaster. I got good service out of those fancy parts since 2003 and I guess I was lucky that no one ever left the key on when the engine was not running. The epoxy flame thrower coil and ignitor 1483a died a horrible death. All fixed now water under the bridge but I get 150 bucks of free labor to make up for the loss.
