hi there, my parking brake does not work anymore; the notch does not "click" anymore with the drum and pedal is not hold and come back to initial position when I press it; could you send me a picture of your parking brake so I can compare and see what's missing; it sounds like I lost a part! thanks for your help; attachment shows my
actual parking brake;

The spring under the truck. between the front an rear cables assists the parking brake to come back up when released. Make sure that is under there.

I was just recently dealing with this last weekend. For the last few years, my E-brake mechanism, that's in your photo, hasn't been working. The teeth were not catching on the little parts, with spring on it.
I pulled the whole E-brake assembly down and greased those small parts and the E-brake handle slot, that is hidden on the other side of the bracket, shown in that photo. I made sure everything was moving/sliding freely. Then put everything back together. Now I have an E-brake that actually works.

After a week, from what I did above, seems to still be working just fine

thanks for your feedback; so, if I understand, you talk about the spring under the chassis?

thanks for your tip but the thing is it was working fine the day before, that's why I think about a lost part

There is a spring under the chassis, attached to the first cable section of the E-brake cable.

In the photo, in your original post, it appears to be correct, and not missing anything. And yours looks basically new, compared to my semi rusted unit. If it was working the day before, and if something fell out of that E-brake mechanism, small parts would have been laying on the floor.

Without being able to see the E-brake system, as a whole, it's hard to speculate exactly the cause of the overnight mishap. Could possibly be the section, that Winchested mentioned, at the connection point between the two cable section under the chassis, where the spring is located. It could, be something inside the drum, like the cable connection going through the drum backing plate.

ok, I will investigate deeper, because this morning, I wanted to drive my baby and it kept on stalling, as if the brakes were engaged; after playing with the pedal, it remain engaged but without rattling noise and I could release it with the handle "brake release"; afterward, I could leave without stalling; to be continued!!! hopefully, it's not essential fo the truck, since I have the parking position;
