Pancake Bellhousing 4 spd and a 11 inch clutch?

Okay, I will be putting a Scout 2 196 in my Scout 80 and it has a 11 inch clutch. This clutch needs to be rebuilt and I need to get an 11 inch clutch disc with the 15/16" 10 spline input shaft disc in an 11" version for my pancake bellhousing s800 4spd. I have 2 good 10 inch clutches but the correct flywheel for the 196 is only drilled for an 11 inch clutch.... Okay, to simplify it, what should I do? I have 6 flywheels, 4 are 4cyl and 2 are v8's. I think all but 1 are able to take a 10 inch clutch. Should I:

1. Swap flywheels around and hope that one is close to the same weight so I can run my rebuilt 10 inch clutch.

2. Run a 10 inch disc in a 11 inch clutch....

3. Try and source an 11 inch disc that will work or find someone to swap center sections.

If 3 is an option... Can a 11 inch clutch physically fit in a pancake bellhousing?

4. Have a machine shop redrill the correct flywheel for a 10 inch clutch.

5. Other?

As you can see, I am at a loss here and need some expert help. :smile5:

I agree, use the 152 fw and clutch assembly but add 3 springs to the 152 pressure plate so it'll hold the added torque of the 196.

I suppose you could find a clutch disk of have one built with the correct input spline but I looked and could not find one.

I know what you really want...and it's my fresh 11" flywheel. And the answer again is no!

I didn't realize you took the "other" flywheel/clutch home...shoulda left it here since it's gonna get surfaced here anyway!

1) I can have the flywheel drilled for the 11" cover when it's surfaced at the machine shop...or:

2) I'll take my 11" diaphragm disc to friction materials and have them find the right stuff to fab a fresh 10" disc with a spline/hub that is correct for the t-18. But...the offset in it is for a diaphragm clutch cover, so I really need your disc that will be used with a long or borg and beck clutch cover.

The 10" clutch will work just fine, I have one behind the 196 in my 80 as you know and it gets used severely in pullin' stumps and logs.

Bring the stuff to the meeting and I'll work out the details next week. We'll know if that block needs to be bored at that time and everything can go to southworth at the same time. Friction materials is right around the corner from southworth!

I don't have any 10" clutch stuff here right now for samples.

If the block ends up having to be bored, the balance factor is gonna be scruud anyway. Spend the cash and have the entire fresh rotating assembly balanced...or you will have to learn to live with the shakes. I should know "if" a bore job is gonna be required in the next 48 hours. And no!!!...we're not gonna bore only one cylinder!

Oh man, why not! Especially since it'll get balanced:devil: okay, I have a 9 spring and 6 spring 10 inch clutch, and will go with the 9 spring as that was what I was doing before. I'll go grab my other 152 flywheel that has a good ring gear and the correct holes for a 10 inch clutch. I'll have to take off work early to get that shiz and all the parts that I need to bring you mayben... Fan shroud, heater cover, 3 speed slave cylinder bracket, 2 throwout arms, etc..
