Optional Warn Winch bumper mounts?

I have what I think is the optional winch bumper by warn and I'm trying to find out how this is supposed to be mounted. The bottom mounting rails seem fine how they bolt to the bottom of the frame but the top rails are welded to the top of the frame and it looks really hokey. Hopefully I'll be able to post pics of this setup here. If anybody has any pics of a decent top mount I would be really grateful. Thanks, Danny

The top plate looks like mine, that's where the similarity stops. To my knowledge that's not a factory version. I have one and there's no welding on it at all. It's four pieces that all bolt together to and mounts up just like the regular bumper does up front.

Thanks for the reply sammy. I redid the top mounts so they're sturdier and rewelded them to the top frame. So far so good. Danny

Most of the bumpers I have seen for the Scout II's are bolted through the frame, utilizing the existing holes in the front frame cross member. The one on my 72 ole yeller is similar and is bolted on, nothing welded onto frame. The welded on bracket was most likely done by a po in its past life time.

Thanks kimball. I'll refab the top mounts when I do the tub swap.I just finished painting my pickup and not in a big hurry to tackle another major project. Danny

No problem Danny. My 'ole yeller' build thread might have a pic or two of my winch bumper. But if you need any close up shots of how mine is mounted, I can get them. Or if you and your lovely wife are out and about down in my area, you're welcome to swing by.

We'll do that kimball next time we're down that way. I'll look through your build thread and see what I can find. Thanks, Danny

I have the same bumper and there are no top mounts. I'm guessing they did that trying to strengthen it even further. Let me know if you need any pictures.

If it wouldn't be too difficult I would appreciate pics. If I were to tow it I would like it to be a little more solid. Thanks, Danny
