oil pump rebuild

Hello all. I am interested in knowing when I should rebuild my oil pump? And when doing so , what are the gaskets and parts I will need to do the job and what to be careful of. Thank you all so very much.
Is this the right place for this question?

you should address your inquiry on this to michael maybean as I am not in a position to answer your question. I'm sure that michael will need more information as to which engine you have and how many miles are on the oil pump in question.

However, if and when you wish to use a "high quality engine oil" please consider swepco in your rig....it can be purchased through ihon as well as Isa's IH.

Rebuildin' an sii (or any IH app) oil pump is super ez! But the only way to "know" when it's needed is tear it down and measure it out! Way too often...oil pressure issues are blamed on the pump, when in actuality it's the "cam bearing takes a dump syndrome" that we're dealing with in this thread:

http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.co...I-4-sv-engine-non-oiling-rocker-assembly.html

Same for a simple changing out of the oil filter you May be using along with oil viscosity such as discussed here:

http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.co...IH-lifter-rattle-syndrome-what-do-I-have.html

All ya need izza "kit". Ya need the service manual segment in order to learn the process and have the specs.

If everythang checks out, then maybe just a sterilization of all components, and making certain the relief control valve is clean and not gunked to where it has a tendency to "stick".

The "secret" tip for oil pump setup is make certain that the body cover/gear end clearance is at the minimum spec when re-assembling.

In fact, soon as I git through with some other how-to threads around here, I'll put one up regarding oil pump checkout!

And ihon does have oil pump kits available if needed.

We're looking into the possibility of making a new pump available that can be used on any IH I-4 or sv application by using some adaptive components. The kicker as always is that scruuball double hump oil pan on the sii that prevents the use of the "normal" pump developed for those motors originally as motivators for light/medium duty trucks.

And this little side project has nothing to do with melling! It'sa "project" with no timetable of any kind for yes, no, or maybe!
