oil pressure drop

About two months ago we changed the oil pump in my Dad’s Scout. He bought a rebuilt one. Yesterday the oil pressure was fine at about 50psi on the freeway coming home (55-65mph). He speed up to 70mph and the pressure dropped to 20psi. As soon as he lets off the gas a little the pressure comes right back. It has an auto meter elec. Gauge in it. He added a cheap direct reading gauge just to be sure. It does the same thing. Also the needles on the gauges kind of twitch or move back and forth sometimes. Only about a needle width. I don’t know if that’s related or not. I hope I included all the vital information! Any thoughts?? Yes I searched.

My Dad's Scout: 1973 Scout II 345 v8 auto 31” tires

ps: it does it in 2nd gear too. About the same rpm. No tach. Sorry

First off...read this thread!!:

Any sv-powered Scout II running the oem double-hump oil pan should run seven quarts of oil when it's change time. Install seven quarts (including the make-up for the filter) and then re-Mark the dipstick accordingly.

Reason for this...the oil quantity originally specified will not work properly in a double-hump oil pan, those were primarily used only in the Scout II application, though some industrial vehicles (such as fork lifts and aircraft tugs) also used the double sump pan on occasion.
