Non-Captains Log 10.7.2010

Sorry I didn't get this out earlier, damn stomach flu kept me down.

We had a good turnout for the meeting in October, a month where many of the usual suspects were down at lake francis for the fall rallye.

12 of us got together and had a fun time telling stories and letting loose. We did get some formal meeting time in.

Christmas party announced: check it out at IHSTo_Org

adopt a family: kriston brought this up and though he was not in attendance we gave the ok for kurt to grab a family in need this Christmas. Look for more information soon about how we can contribute to this worthy cause.

Ihcs Christmas tree revival: the ihcs is going to open up it's Christmas tree lot this year about three weeks out or so before Christmas. This is a good place to get a tree or three (like my family does). And a good time to sit and hang out with ken roth. You can play the fun game of "spot the rust" while looking for a tree for you will undoubtedly come across some old International kens stashed somewhere and forgot about.

IHSTO Christmas tree trail run: this was brought up and honestly could not be answered as the trail bosses are pretty busy getting things ready for the next Binder Bee. Though we tried to corner carl into leading one he used the "I gotta work" card. If a trip does happen you will need a Christmas tree cutting permit. You can obtain one from any forestry department locations. Look for an announcement on this sometime soon.

IHSTO cruises: some new routes were discussed for possible escapades, including the fruit loop up in hood river.

IHSTO events in general: the roth family has expressed their apologies and sorrow for not having much activity in the IHSTO over the last few months. This is a silly and un-needed apology. Many of you know that Mike's Mom and ken's wife of 43 years passed away last month. Myrna was a pillar in the roth family and she will be missed. Many of us in the IHSTO had the pleasure of meeting myrna at the August meetings at the ihcs and she always graciously laughed at my pathetic attempts of poking fun at ken. The IHSTO stands behind the roths and our prayers and thoughts are with them as they continue on in their life without her. We are also grateful for the recovery of Mike's niece and ken's granddaughter who recovered from an unknown, but serious illness.

That about wraps up the happenings on October 7th. Next meeting is November 4th at the usual pietros pizza parlor. There could be a report from Mike mayben on the awesome Binder Bee we just had as well as a report on the happenings down at the fall rallye. See you all there!

Great write up drew. I see you as a future IHSTO president. thank you all so much for the thoughts, prayers and notes over the last month. It has been greatly appreciated. The support we felt is a true testament to what the real root of this club is and that is great people. :icon_heart:

Ha, seriously it does.. Maybe monte could be lead Scout wearing his kilt!!

But from the hood river fruit loop website:

looking for some family fun?
Take this 35-mile, scenic drive through the valley's orchards, forests, farmlands, and friendly communities. Sample delicious fruits and take your favorites home, visit a winery, experience fields of fragrant lavender, meet adorable alpacas, savor delicious baked goods, and create memories by participating in family activities hosted at fruit loop locations throughout the year.
The fruit loop is just an hour away from oregon's largest city, portland. Located in the national scenic area called the columbia river gorge, and the nation's largest pear-growing region, this is one of the few places that offers the complete experience of growing, producing, and then enjoying fruit and wine.
