no ported vacuum port

Recently acquired a 69 800A with a 266. There are no ports at base of carb. They had the distributor vacuum line going to manifold vacuum, which I-'m sure is not correct. Its a Holley carb mounted directly to manifold. Should there be some kind of base plate?? Any help would be appreciated. Also looking for dwell and timing specs. Mahalo

Both ported and timed advance configurations were used. You have ported. If it works well I would leave it alone. You will need to unplug the advance vacuum to set initial timing.

Some Holley carbs back then had the ported vacuum source for the distributor coming from the side of the metering block. Does your carb metering block have a brass plug on the side of it?

Yes it does have brass plug. I will get hose barb fitting and check it out, Thanks
