No Pertronix for 4 cyl Pertronics Dizzy?

Well I just had a long detailed post typed up but when I tried to submit it it asked me to log in (again) then it said there has been an error and that I needed to reload the previous page (the page I had just typed) and upon reloading it was all gone:shocked:

so here is the shortened version! My brother has an "oddball" white 1980 Scout II with the 4cyl and 4 speed manual with the "rally steering wheel" and cool blue plad door panels it originaly had rectangular sealed beam headlights but a stupid freeking bear in the road decided that round ones from our parts Scout would look better:ihih:. However being that it was probably pieced together from whatever parts they had left lying around the factory floor for the final model year it has a prestolite dizzy wth the doughnut shaped igniter that has now decided to stop working after a very good 35 years of service! Now
that oe parts are no longer made (including the parts that make the parts like the rca xa1321 to-3 package transistor or scr that tuns up no info on google!) ive decided to replace it with a pertronix module from this site. However this site only lists an 8 cylinder prestolite module. Will it work since (I think?) the 4 and 8 cyl dizzys are the same with just a different tooth count on the armature?

I should also add that I was wondering about using the stock prestolite pick-up assembly and wiring it to either a Ford duraspark or late 70's GM igniter and wether or not that would be a good option? It would be nice to simply fab up a bracket and mount a duraspark where the holly goldbox unit would go and simply make a nice clean harness between the dizzy/coil and the firewall with connectors for easy future part replacement and module testing at any parts store.

If you would like to purchase a pertronix unit for your 4cyl prestolite distributor, I can get that. It will be a few days to get it in, but give us a call to order. Cost will be the same as a v8 kit. Thanks.

Ok thanks sounds great I will let him know! Would the kit be a pertronicx igniter II or iii series? I spotted one post that mentioned that mentioned that if the key is left on for the old style igniter it will burn the module and coil up!!!???:icon_eek:
