no charging scout

I recently purchased a 1966 Scout 800 in fairly decent shape. I have replaced the alternator ,the voltage regulator and most of the wiring connectors. The engine is a 352 Ford v8 from parts unknown and as far as I can tell everything is complete but I still cant get it to charge the battery. Any suggestions would be helpful.

So you have no optput voltage from the alternator? Have tested voltage across the battery terminals with the engine off and then with it running to see if there is a difference? You should show about 14 volts across the battery terminals with the engine running and maybe 11.8-12 or so with the engine off.

You say you replace the alternator and voltage regulator. Did you replace the battery at the same time? These three will work best together in a system when the battery is completely charged and in good shape. It is also possible that new parts are not working or not hooked up correctly. I'd check the wiring to make sure I have that right.

Just some thoughts

Since ya gotta frankenscout, go here:

fordification - the 1967-1972 Ford pickup resource

And look up the correct schematic for that charging system:

I use that site all the time, they are just as reliable and factual as we are here at ihon!

I'm involved with another forum member here right now in building an fe block Ford (390 w/352 hi-per heads). I'll be doing this same wiring conversion in another month or so when we mate a '65 f100 cab to a '75 f250 "highboy".

An fe block inna dam s800??? Whatta shoehorn!
