I have a 78 terra 345 with a kentrol glass body. The whole truck weighs in at 1850-1900 kg and it's mostly running on roads, but roads here are full of holes and bumps... I use it for hauling heavy diving gear (150-250kg) and just for cruising and daily duty in the summer. I'm running a set of original springs, SUA, the standard blue no-name shocks (two years old) and a set of 31x10,5 r15 tires with about 20 psi pressure. The springs are pretty worn, I can see the leafs digging into each other, but it's not noticeably sagging, my steering is okay. But I think the truck rides extremely stiff and bumpy when empty, and only a little better loaded. Front is terribly stiff.
This is how she looks today:
I have been replacing the spring bushings and see little improvement. I'm thinking of keeping the tires and ride height I have, or maybe go for 32" tires and a small (2") lift. I already have new body bushings and a set of 1" lift pucks. The diffs are 3.07s, so I do think the 32" would be to push it a little too far.. I think my #1 priority would be to soften the suspension, but if that includes a small lift that's okay.
I noticed the ihon long travel kit today and I must say it looks promising. Longer, wider springs and rs in the front should help give it a softer ride, right? But what to do with the rear? Would a rear kit of 2" springs from Skyjacker be the answer or are there other, better options? I see the long travel kit is available in a stock height as well. Am I on the right track at all? I don't want a big lift or SOA, just a more comfortable ride really.
