New toy - for a measly $500

Scooter

72 Scout II - 727 auto and what looks to be a 304 and a/c. I have been eye balling this thing for like ten years. Never knew who owned it, but always saw it parked on the street with occasional relocation for street sweeping. Then a couple years ago some guy cruised by my man cave of a shop space real slowly while I was working on one of my other scouts and he stopped to talk about mine and this yellow big bird I just aquired today. Motor runs ok, but needs a tune up badly. What turned the deal my way was that the transmission is shot. No forward gears. Reverse seemed to work ok, but I didn't wanna back it out of the shop and drive backwards for a test drive  drivers door won't open, but over all the body is in some what decent shape, with a few minor dents. The interior is shot and missing passenger seat.

Also, over all it doesn't appear to be any p.o virus issues. And looks unmolested. Even has the oem jack and its crank in the normal spot. Only thing that aint oem is the rims inside the 33" x 12.5 tires, the 2" lift leaf springs, and the Dana 44 front end. It's still sprung under

gues I will have to start another build thread

I thought about it, but I'm kinda holding out silently till we talk more.

Btw - did you get my last text message?

Today, I decided to wash off all the cob webs and bird doodoo of the new toy. Still haven't gotten fully attached to it just yet since there's absolutely no forward gears in the 727 auto trans. Athough, it cleaned up fairly nicely:

And I couldn't forget the added bonus of Joe's favorite t.c. Shifter nob:

sweet deal ya got there let me know if u need any parts I still got a load of em in the shead

Thanks. Too soon to tell yet. Only thing mechanically that this one needs is a trans rebuild. No forward gears, only reverse. I haven't had much time to work on this one lately. Maybe draining the trans fluid, droping the pan and checking band adjustments and the valve body.

Missing a passenger seat though, but the bucket for it is there that has been hacked by po. The drivers seat is all shreded with springs poken ya in the @ss when you're sitting in it. Other than that, this is probably only the second Scout that I have seen that is un-molested and 85% original, with very minnimal po hack work. The 304 runs great, even with the need for a tune up.

Was size shackles are on it? I'm still learning about all this as you know, lol. I looks great! In waaaaay better shape than mine from the looks of it.

Total length on all four shackles is 6-1/2". Center of bolt hole to bolt hole is about 4-7/8".

This yellow Scout is suprisingly in good shape, considering it was sitting outside for a number years without the top on it. Mostly all cosmetic repairs like reupholstering the seats and the normal wiring issues that come with age of these scouts. Minor surface rust in the ussual spot. But then again, I haven't had time to go over this one with a fine tooth comb. Two dents, one being at the side marker light on right front fender and then one at right rear end cap right around the tail light.
