New Guy with Metro

Michael mayben's rebuilding my carb for me and said I should stop by here. I recently purchased a 65 metro for a whopping $700. It hasn't ran in a few years.
As it sat where I bought it.

My buddy Mark transported for me the 70 miles.

Interior

I sanded off the goofy signs on it and rattle canned some spots

At some point someone installed an 8 lug Dana 60 from a 72 Chevy pickup and converted the front to 8 lug with some scetchy looking adapters. It got a brake job out back and I got some 16" 8 lug wheels and tires for $40 to replace the ugly chrome wagon wheels and severly dry rottted tires.

I want to paint the lower half a bronze color to match the wheels that I rattle canned similar to this pic.

Hopefully the carb is all it needs to run.

And I've got a couple amc eagles, hence the username.

Metros and eagles...now that's a combo ya don't run across very often!

I forgot to tell ya in the email string, your carb has now been jetted #67 (it's written on the fuel bowl) which is correct for that metro application but not for a Scout 80 or 800! But...at your altitude it May need to be dropped a couplea points, so an alternative jet is in the baggie with the gasket! Won't know until ya try it.

In your carb box you will find a 17 page print of all the metro stuff I have on hand, buncha "tech" specs from around 1959 so most of it should be applicable.

Keep us up to date on your progress, you May be the only remaining metro dude here on the forum!

Awesome! Thanks. I'm at 5,600 feet but will be moving to tn in about a month if I can get the metro running good enough to make a 1200 mi journey and I'm also in the middle of an engine swap in my 86 eagle that is getting fuel injection. So if it's a little Rich I'll probably keep it that way until I get down to thicker air.

Michael, I couldn't have done it without you. No choke needed and I don't even have to touch the gas pedal to start it. I just turn the key and it purrs like a kitten.

Just another day in mr. Rogers 'hood with the milk man comin' down the street!

No choke??? It runs? Ya sure ya didn't just push it down the street for the video???

And it's got brakes too???

I'm impressed!

Thanks again for the bizz!

It moved under it's own power. It is a little sketchy when you apply the brakes. It's wants to go left, then right, then left.

Mm, didn't you see?, the metro sawed off the red mustang!!! If you look real close you can see the drivers hiding his face because he got beat by an IH delivery van....

All jokes aside, eaglefreek ,, nice job getting the van going.

That's funny, Robert.
Went to the golden super cruise where a couple thousand hot rods and muscle cars and everything else under the sun shows up for some fun.

This is how my night ended. The front right wheel cylinder let go. Fortunately it happened in a parking lot and not when going 45 mph and having to stop for a red light. Got to love aaa. The tow truck driver asked to take a couple pics of the metro.
