New guy questions

First post; I have a few questions. I know little to nothing about scouts but I found one that is in rough shape but they are basically giving it away so I was going to try and fix it up. But first, are some of the engines compontents compatible with cross referenced parts commonly found at parts stores. Stuff like fuel filters, oil filters, ,radiator hoses, drive belts etc. Is there anything that is specific to the Scout?

I drive a maintenance intensive vehicle (2000 h1), but a good majority of those parts are GM based.

What I found is a 1975 International Harvester Scout II xlc for $100.00 (one hundered, not thousand). So it is going to be hard for me to pass up. Thanks for the help

Welcome h1, most of the parts you listed are found in most parts stores. The problem lies finding a store that is willing to look it up in the book instead on a computer. Otherwise ihon can get just about anything you would need.
Another good suggestion is to get a manual, there's a lot of smart people on this site, with a lot of info already posted that can answer just about anything related to IH.
Post up info on your Scout such as motor, tranny, t-case or anything pertinent to your question you will get an answer.
Again welcome
ron

Welcome to the ihon krew and ditto what ron posted!

The Scout II platform is by far one of the easiest "special interest" vehicles to deal with in the service parts arena outside of the chryfordrolet game.

Spend alotta time cruising through every thread posted in the forum here and you will encounter all the common hot buttons that normally need attention. Betcha find alotta folks doin' exactly the same as you (or will do!).
