I have bought a gp sorensen 96-350a kit that I am not sure if it will work . After disassy. I looked at the old gaskets and found a port that looks like it would of been leaking .

Welcome to the forum hot!

First off, go to this thread for info regarding the "22xx" series mixers, pay close attention to posts #11, #12, and #13, the answer lies therein!

http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.com/carb-tech/511-Holley-22xx-series-carb-stuff.html

As to the suitability of the sorenson kit you reference, lay the contents out onna contrasting background and take a few well-focused shots and post, that is the only way of me being able to tell ya if the kit you have will work in full. I don't use those in my shop and have no experience with 'em as to "correctness" of the contents.

And in the referenced link, ya can see that ron was dealing with the exact same list number as you have.

Ok. I have looked at the post and the gasket differences. This is a Scout that I just bought and was told it had a carb problem. I could get the truck to start but had to hold the choke shut to do so . So I took the carb off disassembled it and found the gasket problem . My question now is the gasket in the post that says correct gasket is the same as one in the kit that I have but when putting gasket on the carb there is a port that is being blocked by the gasket.. Should it be blocked??

Yes!

The gasket must block that port on the throttle body used on the IH-version of that carb. Otherwise you will have a major vacuum leak.

Again, both of the carbs that I used in that tear-down sequence were assembled incorrectly, one had a big vacuum leak, the other had the "leak" filled with red rtv but still leaked!

I just did a gps lookup on the carb kit p/n you posted...the photo which accompanies the lookup on the gps website shows to be the exact same kit as the standard hygrade 929a which ron alluded to in his posts. It should be, as the gp sorensen "brand" is a part of standard motor parts umbrella operation, a simple re-box of the same sealed kit packaging with a different overwrap. That kit has both throttle body gaskets as you mentioned, and also has both base gaskets, the four hole gasket if for chrysler apps of that carb, the "heat dam" gasket is the correct base gasket to use on the IH application.

Success in bringing these carbs back to life lies in cleanliness, proper power valve piston actuation, and attention to detail, they are very tedious to make play nicely.

I am now needing the linkage that goes from the white plastic idle cam to the choke butterfly. The piece that goes one the end with the nut is missing also.. Anyone have one I can buy ??

I am also needing some help with the vacuum lines on the engine. Got a diagram??

Thanks for the help so far..

The vacuum diagram is posted in this thread:

http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.co...acuum-diagrams-documents-service-manuals.html

I have n=2 "sets" of the choke lever and link, along with the retaining nut and lockwasher. Make certain that your nylon fast idle cam is not cracked or distorted, we have only one of those available at this point. Out of fifteen+ "22xx" cores we have here, only two have the parts you are looking for.

Call Jeff/ihon at 530-268-0864 and order, items such as this cannot be ordered through the online store. Once he emails me a packing slip, I'll send it out to ya from my location.

Cost for one set will be $18.00 plus shipping.
