I thought I would move this post to the ignition side of things since I have been posting both carb and ignition in carb tech.
I ordered a pertronix from a napa store and they called me back and said that they cant get a pertronix for my application? Only 74 and newer with gold box? I dont have a gold box? I am running a 1971 345 in my black 75 p/u (with the tilt front end you like) lol. Distributor number 360514-c91 points style. Does the #1481 or the #91481 fit this distributor? I would like the pertronix II so in case I have a brain fart and leave the key on it wont burn it? Any ideas on what napa is telling me?

Tee...I posted some pertronix poop in your edelbrock carb thread.

And for some other pertronix poop, read all the way through this thread posted originally by dlrecord:

http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.com/carb-tech/512-Holley-23xx-series-modular-carb-stuff.html

The "fix" is in that thread!

I'd run away from them napa fooks, I hate napa and will not darken any napa doors ever again! If they can't getta simple p-tron, they can't git shit! They simply don't wanna go "outside" the napa system for supply...scruu 'em, they can source from any wholesaler they want to, they just don't git "the price". My local car quest keeps the 1481 on the shelf all the time, I buy most of mine there since by the time shipping is added, the price is about the same anywhere! The 91481 can be had overnight outta their facing warehouse.

91481 is available all over the 'net and I know Jeff can git 'em too! However, that number has no demand inna typical parts house since it's only application is the IH/Holley distributor. And typical countermonkees won't learn the difference and will just let a sale walk away without even trying.

When I found shit like that in my retail stores, the monkee got fired on the spot...no customer went away without leaving money, if they do, then the store goes backward in daily sales for every customer that walks. Ya don't stay in bizz very long doing that...but the typical scruus in napa "company" stores could care less, until corporate sends inna "mystery shopper" and shakes 'em up until the next round of lazzeeazz!

Based on your distributor part number it is a IH/Holley points unit, so 1481 is correct for the regular p-tron...91481 is for the p-II.

Sounds great, I just wanted to make sure I was getting the right unit for that distributor because if anyone would know it would be you. If they dont want to get it for me ,I will be calling someone who can.

I am sorry michael, I did'nt realize there was more than one page to that thread in carb tech? I am a inexperienced internet rookie!!!! Thanks again.

Hey, I been doin' this pooterschnizz for 15+ years and I'm still a noob!

Already this morning, I've had three phone calls from friends wantin' to know "what tha hail is the story on that flipfront squarebody "!!!! Now it's famous...ya better copyright tha image now!

The way this forum has grown in the last 60 days...we're all gonna have to start using the "search" function real often. I can remember stuff real well from 30 years ago...it's "yesterday" I have a hard time with!

I was really surprised, the flipfront was a big hit at the nats.I think its the only one like it? Maybe I should patten it or sell a kit or something? I take it by the way you talk that you have a pickup also?do you have any pics of it? Would love to see it.

Coupla pics of tha orange beater pos are in this thread:

http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.com/I-h-s-t-o/815-miz-phelpsette-phase-II.html

The only thang worth a crap on it is tha motor and tha electrics (and tha winch that don't winch right now but will soon!).

Tha t'ette tethered to it goes out to kintukee on tha transport prolly next Thursday, it's gonna git a dodge/cummins transplant.

Mainly serves penance now for trailer draggin' when I can afford to fire it off. The other beater iz momma's project s80, normally used for sukkin' stumps outta the ground when them trees fall down, or generally purpose use when I don't wanna get the garden tractor dirty!

I can see a "flipfront" kit for full size scrap iron in yore future! And Jeff has a personal "project" t'all trailerdragger that he's holdin' back right now waitin' for time to get with the program. A nice one that's already semi-started! What a flipper it would make!

Put yore order in now tee! The good ones are getting real scarce now but they are still available! Your delivery date May be two years out though!

I bird dog this stuff quite often...here's another one that came from up here, we drove it back to hanover, in last year...it's now going with it's family up to ann arbor, mi and a new j.o.b. The owner, tate, carries his two kids locked in the compartments...outa sight, outta mind ya know...each has their own dvd player and sleepin' bag in the boxes!

The frame on this one has been lengthened when the body was installed, the body is turned around backwards so that the wheel wells line up perfectly over the tires! The 4x4 conversion has never been completed though it is a dd.
