Manual to auto swap?

Hey guys, new to the forum here just want to say thanks in advance for the help. I've got a question, or maybe looking for opinions, my current ride is the 1973 1110 4x4 in my sig with t-18 manual transmission. I've got a 1970 1110 parts truck with the bw 11 auto trans. I know the t18 is strong and trouble free but I really like the thought of the auto for around town driving, what's some advantages/ disadvantages to swapping in the auto in place of the manual? Trying to figure out how to upload pics, not having a lot of luck but will keep trying.

Not looking at cost the borg unit was a good and strong unit but pretty hard to find someone to work on it plus it has a couple of quirks the torque flite doesn't have.

The torque flite is a very strong and pretty simple tranny. If I were going to switch it out I would spend the cash for a torque flite.

As ar as advantages around town it is great on the highway it is a toss up since you don't have to shift much and wheeling it is personal preference.

Cost wise unless you are a tranny expert a good rebuild will cost near a grand or even higher. A t-18 can be bought cheaper and a clutch requies dropping the tranny but then the same applies to an auto

Thanks for the reply, I was worried about parts and such for the borg, I will probably stick with the t18 for now until I find a good 727, which is what it originally had anyway. The 266 and t18 was swapped in some years ago.

To bad you're not closer. I've got everything from the steering column to kick down linkage for a 727 swap from a 73 1210.
