John donnelly (woodburn) has a 1980 diesel traveler (4-speed, d20) in his back field that belongs to my brother. It needs some clean up work and a little rust repair just behind the b-pillar rocker but other than that is pretty solid and with a wet-sand and new clear coat would probably clean up pretty nice. Right now I'm sure its a little ugly as its probably hasn't been washed in about 3 years.
It ran when we took it down there but needed some motor work, highly suspect a cracked piston or two. But I drove it home when we bought it, just smokes. We brought it down to jd cause he was going to rebuild the motor for us... We just never got around to it and now my brother has no need for it (funny how life does that). Last I heard it won't start now, but that would be electrical (as with most scouts by now, it will probably need some wiring work, or the way I prefer, a complete re-wire. Get ride of all the 30-yr old crap)
if your interested hook up with jd (you can find him on binder planet) and take a look. He can probably tell you what will be involved with the motor. If your interested after that drop me a line and we'll work out some details. I think he's looking somewhere in the market of about $1000, but I'm sure that's negotiable. Selling it out of there would be great, as then we wouldn't have to get it some day when john says "get it out of here!" :d
