Long travel kit question

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum so I thought I'd jump right in. The info here is incredible.
To save Jeff yet another phone call from me I thought I'd ask here. I'm doing a frame off custom build on a 72 Scout II.
Thought I'd try the long travel kit from iho. Also it's SOA.
I'm fitting up front end prior to welding, narrowing the 44 etc. And happened to notice that the front spring bushing bolt (the one that attaches to the massive fangs) is only a 3/8" dia. Grade eight whereas the rear bolts for the dogleg shackles are all 1/2" dia.
Seems a bit light on the front bolt since most of the force is going to be on those front bolts.
Are there different bushings to accommodate a larger bolt or have there been any problems. Just thought I'd ask since it would be easier to modify prior to welding.
Thanks in advance and hope to join in the fun here.

Paul,

the bolts supplied with the kit are 7/16" for the spring hanger and 9/16" for the shackles in the long travel kit. We haven't had a problem with them shearing/breaking but you could substitute them for a larger bolt if you feel that is necessary. You will have to find/make a different sleeve for the spring bushings in your springs though. 7/16" bolts were what your Scout came with stock. Good luck to you on the install!

Michael,
boy do I feel stupid, I guess it would have been wiser to put the calipers to the bolt instead of eyeballing it quickly late at night.
It is indeed 7/16 dia.
I'll be a little more diligent before I post next time.
Thanks for the info.
Paul
