Locking Diff Issues

Hey guys. I'm new to this forum and relatively new to these trucks, so please bear with me. I just bought a '78 terra 2wd and there is a sticker inside the glove compartment claiming that it has a locking differential. Funny thing is, if you get into any type of slick substance (say, wet grass) one wheel spins like there's no tomorrow. What's going on? Any help would be appreciated.
 
It's a traclock limited slip. They were junk to start with and now that your's is 30 years old it's like a open differential.
