Leak

I appears I am leaking from the bottom cover that covers the flex plate. I did take it to a shop and they suggested that it was the front pump and should be rebuilt. It looked like it was blowing back over the bottom of the pan.

I did drop it and did a reseal, replaced the shift lever, throttle lever, front pump seals and at the same time pulled the pump replacing the bushing, and put a new o ring on the filler tube. But it still leaks.

So is there any way to check to see if it's the tc or from the front pump? Nothing jumped out at me when I had the tc off.

Typical shop bs, if it leaks it needs a $1500 service ticket!

The pump has:

at the top is the vent...if overfilled by about 1 quart it will blow fluid from that location until fluid level drops.

The pump is retained by several bolts as you know, there must be one of the thin, rubber-coated washers under each bolt head when tightened.

The seal of course you know about along with the pump od seal ring (square-cut "o" ring).

There are three drillings (iirc?) at the bottom of the pump where the oil channels are fabbed into the cast iron pump housing. Those were rifle-drilled and then plugged with steel balls. I've never seen any leaks at those points but who knows???

Most likely point for a converter to leak is at one of the mounting bosses for the flex, they will crack at that point on occasion, but you should be able to see that when slowly rolling the motor over.
