Can a person install a pesotolite dizzy instead of a Holley 1530, and what rewiring would be needed? I can buy a new presotlite for about the same price as a pertronixs kit? This would eliminate the possibly of a bad dizzy and the gold box at the same time.

Of course!

The wiring and coil are the same for a Scout II equipped with either the Holley 1530 (gold box) or the prestolite idn 4 series.

But the prestolite will need plug cables with proper female terminals for the male terminals on the cap.

Are you sure about the cost comparison??? A typical p-tron conversion price for a Holley 1530 is in the $90 range for the part alone. The last new prestolite idn distributors we sold here at ihon were in the $300 range. A service part replacement internal module for a prestolite idn is typical street-priced at $130>$160.
 
I beleive its close but I will double check? Will I need a resisitor installed or just change sparkplug wires only?
