IMI High Torque Question

I see on the IHPA site that the imi high torque starter comes with a gasket or a shim, is it an imi part? Mine didn't come with one.
Thanks

Are ya sporting the 727 auto trans? If so, then yes you would need that shim that's being shown in photo in the online store.

If you have a manual trans, I'm not aware if you need that shim or not. The main difference being the way the flywheel ring gear is placed compared to the flex plate of the auto transmission

I don't think that shim is included. If you ordered the starter and you are in need of that shim, call up IHPA to see what they have on hand. I ordered up a used one from them for my 73 beast as a spare. The one I pulled off, came out in two pieces. I don't think it's in production any more. And only used would be available. Unless you can find a nos(new old stock) part.

If you're in a real pinch, can't find one, and in dire straights to get one, I might be willing to work something out. Berkeley is only about 5 miles or so from me.

Do you drive a dark forest green Scout II? If so, I saw you driving down fairmont ave by el cerrito bart a few months ago.

Good advice, I'm taking the old one off tomorrow. I drive a red 1110 step-side. Right now I'm not driving it though, hopefully on Tuesday I'll send off the intake, valve covers, timing cover, and brackets to be hot tanked and powder coated red.
