I am ready to do a SOA on a 77 traveler. As I understand it, the perches sold are not form fitted and much be bored, ground down to make them fit.. I need the 2" perches (2" springs) any advice would be helpful... Tony

Post up your axle type; they are most likley Dana 44's. Also are you going to be using the stock axle or cut and turn a d44? If your using the stock Scout axle there is alot of prep work in grinding a spot for your perch on the diff. Perches are available alot of places, but jeffs are the best. (discout for promoting!! :icon_rotate:) I got a 77 traveller also!! SOA in progress using a 76 Chevy d44.

They are stock d44's, I understand there will be grinding involved to remove the lower perches.. The issue, Jeff advised that the perches he sells will have to be modified even further to fit the stock axles.... The cut and turn is a given.. That is all planned down to the digital protractor.. I am more worried the perches wont fit.. :(

Yep. There is now way for the perches to come in a box ready for your rig. You will need to do some sort of fab to get them to fit level/and at the same hight as your driver side perch. I gues what I'm trying to get across is that not every SOA is going to be the same, especially a stock Scout SOA in wich you are gonna go grinder crazy!. Chevy axles are a dime a dozen...I would suggest picking one up at the local u pull it, and saving some ass pain.

It will be minimal grinding to make them snug. They will fit, don't worry.

That is more like what I wanted to hear... Sheesh.. I wouldn't think perches made for a d44 should have to be modified much at all.. If at all actually... Since buying the Chevy axles are not an option.... My cut/turn has already been set... I appreciate the inputs and feedback.. Anything to put my mind at ease is gratefully helpful...

I have one perch in a box here and I took it and checked on a 44 I've layin out here, it fit perfectly. The only moding you need to do is for the pasenger side front perch. Only use ni rod to weld on the pumkin/cast and you will be fine.

That is great info, again my mind is at least.. Wasn't sure what Jeff meant when he said mods were required.. The pumpkin is a given.. Now to find out if I have 3" tubes.. Proving to be a much harder task.. My eyes aint what they used to be
