Nice score! It certainly looks rebuildable as well. I did a short stint for a fire and safety equipment company in portland oregon. We inspected and recharged those and larger extinguishers. The boss was adamant about using dry nitrogen with the new powder for recharging. The one thing we noticed when they are in rigs, especially trucks, was the powder would compact and cake up from road vibrations settling it. The deal was to shake them up and tap them with a tool handle occasionally to keep the powder loose.

A lot of ihc chassis school buses came with extinguishers like that.

Odd since the bus bodies were not made by ihc back in the day.

I was walking through an auction house in sioux city ia on Sunday and found one of these. Don't ask me why but I bought it. It's dated 1968 and still shows it's fully charged.
Pretty cool!!

the servicing company will also need to hydrostatically test the pressure vessel. Needs to be done every 12 years for a dry chemical extinguisher. Hope it passes...

Yes, your right erik. The one I got needs it to, I can't feel any powder movement in mine so it is probaly all backed down. I would not trust it for use.
