Ignition-Fuel-Re-wire.

Well after 26 mos. Of runnin recovery missions in iraq, I'm headed home to my wife kids and my 74 sii 345. I have quite a few upgrades and conversions waiting on me when I get home this weekend or early next week. So now that at I have found you guys at ihon I'll be throwin threads in the air and hoping they land in the right place. And sending the majority of my orders your way. You all look and sound like "quality gear"

my first question is around the 2300 conversion. I found what I believe to be a good deal on a new one. I don't believe it has turned any laps or been on a dyno. It has an electronic choke already installed but otherwise is supposed to be pure factory. The numbers on the horn simply state 7448-1 and underneath is 0979. It doesn't actually say "line #" next to the 0979. In the pictures, the pump cam is an orange color. Of course I wont be able to tell you where that is set till I get home. Can I order your conversion kit or do I need to go ahead and send you the carb and let you go through it? Not sure about my elevation but I can tell you I'm pure "okie". Will the kick down linkage from my 2200 carry over to the 2300? I at least need a base gasket, return springs and egr block off plate.

I'll be thumbing my way through a dui install first thing so from what I've read so far I hope to be dialed in for the carb upgrade and then a total re-wire of the truck. Just tryin to plan my moves so I can hit the ground runnin.
Thanks fella's

Welcome to ihon and thank you for serving our country!!! We seem to attract folks like yourself around here and it dam sure makes me proud!

Most all of the peripheral parts for installing a 2300 carb are readily available locally in parts jobbers for most folks (except egr blocker). We do package the needed items on a "custom" basis though as we know some folks May not have a local supplier than can handle this.

So once you have the basic parts in front of ya, please post some pics of what you have...and what you are going to install on, and we'll talk ya through the deal. Each vehicle is somewhat unique due to it's "as found" condition and no two are identical! In dealing with this stuff, you have no doubt seen in other threads, the real story is in the details of your vehicle, not someone else's!

If you are gonna be playing in the okie arbuckles or the ouachitas (I've spent alotta hours in both areas during my motorcycle phase), then the max elevation you will see is under 2500ft. So our "base" 2300 setup numbers work just fine. If playing at over say 4,000ft. Continuously, then main jets can be reduced a bit. Since okies (and texians) consider Colorado to be their own back yard for wheeled recreation, that May be a consideration for ya in the future??
