As many here know I've been having a time getting my 800 with the 152 engine to run right. The problem has been that once the engine gets to operation temp I was losing one cylinder. I finally discovered after going through carbs, ignition, compression and every thing else I could think of what the problem May be. I pulled the head and cylinder #1 was wet with oil. It would run fine until the engine got to operatin temp then just so south. Vacuum was horrible which tells me it's a valve issue. I took the head back to the shop, they tore it down, checked the vacuum on the valves, they were fine, magnafluxed it, no cracks and finally told me nothing was wrong with the head. I got to thinking that maybe oil was traveling down the rocker arm bolts. Took the rockers in and sure enough they were leaking oil through when a vacuum was pulled. I got the head back this morning and reinstalled it. I sealed the threads with permatex thread sealer and also modified the four rocker stands where the bolt goes through into the intake. I'm giving the thread sealer three days to fully cure and I'll see what happens. Attached are the photos of the modification to the four rocker stands.

Actually, sealing the rocker system bolt threads is a common issue on these engines.

Same for sealing all the bolts that retain the flywheel to the crankshaft hub.

Same for sealing the two 1/4" bolts that thread into the rear crank bearing plate through the lower engine cover.

All those fasteners get sealed with some form of sealant when installing.

Did they check the valve guide to valve stem clearance?

They checked everything, the guide clearance was good, valve seals were in place, checked the vacuum on the head and it checked ok. I'll know in a couple days if I got it fixed.

Now is a good time to peer through the dizzy hole using a dental type of mirror and verify that the lifter gallery plug was installed.

Both of those plugs are installed, I distinctly recall putting them in. In addition my oil pressure is 50 lbs. I'm going to try to light off the engine tomorrow to see if I got it fixed. I think I did, but I've thought that before.
