Hi,
I live in the car theft capital of the world. And three times in my life I've had a car stolen. The most recent, a few years ago was my '54 mack, a model l 1.5 ton crew cab, only one of 3 made. Despite not running, and having locked air brakes, it was stolen from a locked, secure storage area by randy taylor of perris, California, and never recovered.
I'm looking to prevent the same thing from happening again. My truck is presently at the paint shop, and previously I was working on getting it running, and it looked so rusty and junky I never gave theft a thought... Until now.
What are your suggestions on how to lock a truck, or in particular my 62 crew cab, to prevent it's theft? Removing the steering wheel is not practical after I have the horn button etc installed. And that still would not prevent it from being hooked and towed. What are your suggestions?
Despite it being parked behind a 5 foot closed gate in my driveway, I have evidence people have been in my truck when no one was home. (I'm not allowed to lock the gate).
What are your thoughts on a denver or trimax wheel boot, something like the police use to lock a car? How really secure are they?
Thank you.
Steve
