I am trying to get the heat/ac control panel out of the dash so I can fix problems with it. The pal-type nuts nuts are so close to the cast housing I cannot get a nut driver or socket on them and cannot get space to wrench them out.
How do you guys get them off?
Thanks, oj

btw - anybody care to guess the wrench size? 11/32 too small and 3/8ths too big

Ah-ha! It is like a pal type nut, but inverse. I took a piece of 5/16ths hex rod, drilled a 3/32 hole down into it. It works like an allen wrench-nut driver and goes inside the nut and the hole accomodates the stud the nut is captive on. I got the first one off and now see I need to counter sink the hole for shoulder allowance.
I am sure they make a tool for this and I am probably the only guy in north america that don't have one.
