Holley weber progressive

Hey all,
I have been tinkering with a Holley weber 5200 on a vw type 4 engine and stumbled across this site which looked to have some good knowledge! I have been struggling with economizer drip at idle, which is effectively stalling the motor with liquid gas. I read a post on this site that talked about using the mighty vac to test the economizer diafram. That was good. I tried to check all the passage ways. I then adjusted the float for the tenth time back to 35 mm and 48 mm. I started it up and still had drip. To better understand the carb I started plugging the holes while the engine was running. I grabbed one of the mighty vac fittings with the smallest orifice (by chance), and stuck it into the idle air circuit. Wow. All the sudden the drip stopped. It ran great! I proceeded to leave it in and tune the carb. Why does that work?:out:
