High Steer Help Please.

I need a little help or suggestions on doing a high steer setup for my Scout 2. I need to know what my options are for a pitman arm? What works best. It will more than likely be setup with hiems.

Well ok, just seeing if any of you local guys have any ideas.

It's for my 76 Scout 2, GM Dana 60 front, stock springs now but getting 4" springs sometime soon, stock power steering box with stock pitman arm right now. Will be running at least crossover steering to start if not full hysteer( funds). I will most likely be running 3/4" hiem joints on all ends.

Just wondering if the stock pitman arm will work or if I need to adapt a different arm? Stock just looks so long.

Jeep wagoneer pitman arm. They are about 2-3" shorter and use the the next size up drag link end.

My $0.02: do not cut corners on your steering. Don't go to heims unless you spend about $100 per heim. The cheap ones wear out so fast and have so much slop in them, they are not safe for steering components on or off road. Real tie rod and drag link ends can be had for cheaper and are much tighter/safer/stronger (than 3/4" heims) than cheap heim joints.

Ive got a drop wagoneer pitman arm if youd like to try that. Im in mcminnville as you could just bring the box over and we could see if it fits. Let me know.

Are you coming to the meeting? I can bring my box on Thursday if you are.

Don't all of the waggy pitman arms bolt on to a Scout II ps box?

Yeah, im just not %100 sure that its a waggy arm. I was told it was when I bought it but never ended up using it.

It has 32 splines on the box side and the taper measures 9/16" on the small side and 5/8" on the large. Its a 3" drop and is 6" out from the box shaft.

If it really is a waggy arm -- it will fit a Scout II box. All saginaw power steering boxes of that era use the same spline for the arm....
